Handler – EFSD refers to this requirement as the entry level where the student has completed a recognized safety course such as the (NRA basic Pistol course part one). – The NRA Safety course is conveniently conducted online via the NRA website. Here is the link: http://www.nrainstructors.org/Search.aspx. Here you can do the first part of the Basic pistol course, which will go over the safety aspects of your firearms training. Complete part one of the NRA requirements online, then simply print your certificate & take the next part with us!
Shooter Handgun – completed shooting accuracy training sufficient to pass the Shooter Handgun Test. This test covers a variety of distances and has a minimum pass rate score. (Also meets requirements for those that took NRA Basic Pistol). You must show you can shoot accurately and safely.
Shooter Long Gun – similar to Handgun but using a combination of carbine rifle (eg AR-15) and shotgun.
Practitioner – using mainly handguns but incorporating long guns this rank requires the member to be able to deploy a firearm (eg draw from a concealed holster), turn in different directions, advanced, retreat and use cover. This should be considered the basic skill set for any concealed carry permit holder.
Fighter – This member will be able to assess threats and take appropriate action (shoot/no shoot) and work with a partner to achieve a goal. They can fight, use a gun and survive.
Warrior – the Warrior can combine realistic force options in a confrontation including hand to hand defensive skills, pre-deployment, post deployment and firearm retention skills giving them a more complete combative skillset.
Protector – This is the greatest calling and the most challenging. To use your skills as a warrior to protect others. Utilizing bodyguard skills as taught to professionals the Protector has the ability to keep their loved ones safe.
As with all martial arts programs, the high rank of Protector is not the ‘end’ of training. It denotes a level of skills and competence that that many people outside of professionals may not achieve but it also opens the members eyes to the never ending training opportunities and practices requires to remain skilled, relevant and safe.
